Jared felt tired after his physio this morning but enjoys the therapists and their challenges. He enjoys his meals at the rehab. However this afternoon he felt discouraged and frustrated after his occupational therapy session. He was resting for a while before supper as he is beginning to understand that all his hard work tires him out. Visiting is still not on the agenda until he becomes stronger.

Hi, Gary, Jane & Jared.. You have all been through so much, everyone must be tired. Jared it is normal for you to get down and discouraged @ times. Your emotions are very different right now. Yes, you certainly will remain to need your rest. Sleep when you can, work hard when you are in therapy, and cry to let all your frustations out. This recovery period is not easy, but stay positive, and things will work out. It is going to take TIME!!! Alan would always say to us,he wished he could fast foreward everthing..You have a great support system, and great parents. Have a good nights sleep Jared, and things will look different tomarrow. Take care folks, Ruth & Ted Dwyer Maccan

Dear Jared
here is quote I want you to write up and put by your bedside and read it every morning to help you get through the day-"You've got to get up every morning with DETERMINATION if you're going to go to bed with Satisfaction."
"Success is not final;failure is not fatal;it is the courage to continue that counts" Winston Churchill said those words and I think he would say the same thing to you right now after your day today. You are going to have good days and bad days Jared but each day is a step forward no matter what happens. You are determined to move forward and you will but just take baby steps and dont expect high expectations each day and then you wil feel better at the end of the day!!You are amazing and have come along faster than any if us expected so be proud of where you are right now.
I will send you new quotes every tjhird day to help inspire you and you should plaster them on your wall so they are in your eye sight and help remind you every day just how much you can do....Little by Little one walks far!!
Try and get some much needed sleep and Mom and Dad-there will be days like this but rememeber he is determined and he will get through this will your love and devotion!!!When it comes to the playground erection-I want to be there and helping out...much love and prayers coming your way

Dear Jared,
It's ok to have days when you feel frustrated. You've been through a great deal and you have accomplished so much in a short time. Everything will come in time and each day is an opportunity to get a bit stronger. I know you will enjoy the food there. We go out there every spring to their chiken bbq and they have wonderful potato salad and coleslaw and rolls and chicken cooked to perfection. We all have faith in you and your parents and God, and we continue to send our prayers and best wishes.
Love Mel

Dear Jared,

Great to read things from you and to hear of your progress! YOu are doing so tremedously well. Of course, there will be times when it will seem very trying. It is not easy, I'm sure but don't get down on yourself. Sometimes you have to patient with yourself. Even Rome was not built in a day! Think of how far you have come! And think too of how much encouragement you are giving to your folks and to all of us really. We are so proud of how you are doing. Character is what you have in spades. Persevere.

You know that we are constantly praying for you. I hope that someday I will be able to visit you but in the meantime, press on, soldier and student!

Jared, I want to remind you of your Grade Four teacher, who still admires your perseverance and checks this blog every day to check on your progress. May I also remind you of one of my quotes? " Do your best."

Happy Valentine's Day! I am encouraged every day in reading your blog. You are a winner!
