Today the rehab team meeting was held to discuss Jared's goals (both immediate and the near future). He was most upset hearing that he would not be returning to school after he completed his time at the rehab centre. He misses home and feels totally misunderstood. As parents we are feeling helpless. I guess today was not a good one.

Dear Jane Gary & Jared
Today was hard to hear and yes you feel lost and misunderstood but guess what Jared-you are not misunderstood in any way at all..you have inspired so many people this year and have given us all a new lesson in life..to enjoy what we have in front of us and to take each day as it comes.
Take each day Jared and see what you have accompilshed and you will see that you are doing so great. You may have missed out in second term at school but so what!!!You can do that any time after you get home and you have the drive to do it so dont give up yet and see where your life will be in a year from now-seat goals for yourself each day and check them off one by one and soon you will have gradudation under your belt and checked off your list..Stay strong-have faith and rememeber that your Guardian Angel is watching over you and keeping you strong and will give you the drive to go forth in life with happiness and love...we all love you Jared and are here for you and will keep you pushing you in the right direction..

Jane & Gary-dont ever feel lost as parents!!Look what you have given your child-laughter-love-strength and great guidance...you will all get through this with taking one step at a time and each will draw strength from each other and your great comminity..we can all ban together to help Jared get his dream of graduation with our determination and perserverance. We are here for you every step of the way and can give you hugs anytime..keep your chin up as we all know how you are feeling and guess what-life still moves forward with sometimes taking steps backwards to look at where we were and where we are going..and we are going forward with Jared no matter what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You are the most remarkable parents anyone can find so dont ever question your skills as parents-OK-amazing people.

Much love and prayers

When you have made such great progress, Jared, it is hard to hear that there is still a road ahead to travel. But with the strength you have shown to date, you will find that taking one day at a time really works...patience is just another one of those darn things that has to be fought for.Love from me to you and your folks, Joelle

The feelings that both of you are feeling are understandable, however you have both done an wonderful job with Jared, it has been a long road, and there will be many more hills to climb. However, we all know that the 3 of you will make it to the top. You inspire every reader that reads this blog, I am sure.
Take Care and have a great weekend.

Jared,
If you could feel the love and support that every one of us is sending to you, you'd feel a million arms wrap around you. Please, don't ever feel lost and misunderstood. Having met you and seen the light in your eyes and spark in your soul, I KNOW you've got great, amazing things in your future. Each day brings its own challenge, and each challenge brings its own reward. Please continue to focus on those fantastic quotes you showed us all over your room, and know that your entire stadium of supporters is here for the long haul. After meeting you, I exclaimed to everyone that I'd never had a seventeen year old hero before, but that you've amazed me and given me SUCH a positive outlook. For that, I thank YOU! Jared, you rock, and rest assured, you WILL continue to "Kick Ass"!

My heart hurts for you, Jared. I'm sure you must be hurt/angry/frustrated. Try not to let it beat you down. Have your pity party, but don't let it own you. It's OK to be upset, nothing is ever perfectly the way we want. But don't let it set the tone for everything else. Out of every adversity comes the seeds of equal or greater opportunity. There is something important waiting for you, don't let anger/frustration make you miss it. The windshield is bigger than the rear-view mirror for a reason.
Gary & Jane, I don't know how you feel, I don't wear your shoes. But I do know a lot about hurting for my children & the things that disappoint them in life. You don't have to always be strong, it's OK for you to have a moment also. But remember the windshield & pick yourself up, dust yourself off & start all over again. This too shall pass. We continue to pray for you.
Our friend who had the terrible accident & miracle recovery says he would be glad to call Jared & encourage him from his real-life fight to become whole if you ever want to hear from him. Just let us know. He is moving his arm & doing things they said he would never do. If one can do it, many can with faith. God Bless.
